Sleek Pixie Pink Blush

Can you believe I have been blogging over a year now and I haven't tried a blush from Sleek? They have always been on my wish list of products to buy but I have just never really remembered to purchase one. Yes, slap me on the wrists for my ignorance!!

That was until a recent trip to Superdrug, I decided it was high time I owned a blush from sleek so spent a good 10 minutes swatches all the different shades.

After much umming and ahhing I decided to go with Pixie Pink.

You can never have too much pink in your make up collection and I do tend to go for pink shades and tones when it comes to blush, so this looked like a good colour to add to my rather large collection. 

Pixie pink is a cotton candy pink blush with blue undertones to it with a matte finish.  In the pan this looks quite dramatic and scary, but if you tap off any excess powder from your brush it actually just gives the apples of your cheeks really soft pretty flushed colour.

The pigmentation of this blush is amazing, on par with some of my favourite Nars or Mac blushes, I also found it blends into my skin and make up like a dream.

This little blush from Sleek is probably the first blush formula that has lasted all day on my skin without any kind of touch up needed so the lasting power is very impressive for a high street brand. 

The packaging is very cute and well, sleek (see what I did there) It’s got a good size mirror and is a good compact size to fit in your handbag. Best part all this for £4.99!

I have a slightly feeling I may be returning to Sleek to stock up on some more blushes….stay tuned!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

Once upon a time there was a little product called Bioderma, the beauty world fell in love with this micellar water biased cleanser and its gentle yet effective formula. Then all over the skin care departments different versions of micellar water began popping up everywhere and thus began the battle of the Micellar waters, but who will win? 

I  too have had a good love affair with bioderma, but even though it's now more readily available in the UK it's still not as easy as popping to your nearest Boots (other chemist like shops are available) and it's still rather pricey. 

So when my last bottle of bioderma ran out I thought it was time to test a new product, I had heard nothing but good things about the Garnier micellar water cleanser and for £4.99 for a mahoosive bottle it was too much of a bargain too pass up. 

To cut a long story short, I love this product. I have used it in the morning to clense and last thing at night to remove all my make up. I use two cotton pads and all my make up, including eye make up is removed and leaves my face really clean, soft and smooth, and didn't irritate 

 or cause redness on my super sensitive skin.  

The bottle has a clever flip caps so there is no spillage or waste of product. I recently borrowed some of my friends L'Oreal micellar water and I haven't used it enough to comment on its formula but the flow top meant my cotton pad was literally drowned in the stuff, which is a slight waste. So I think Garnier have defintly got the thumbs up with the packaging. 

Overall I am really impressed with this micellar cleansing water and would defintly repurchase over bioderma, yes that is a strong statement to make. I just think for £4.99 it's much cheaper, you get a lot of product, the forumal is very similar and it does the same job. So I would really recommend this little gem and will be repurchasing.

Oscar's best dressed 2014

So after a month or so of award season best dressed post here it is the big one, the night all other award ceremony’s lead up to, The Oscars and the star did not disappoint. 

I thought about dressing in my finest for the occasion and enjoy the red carpet really feeling the part, but in all honestly I was in my onsie drinking hot chocolate. At least I was comfy.

I stayed up as late as I could to watch E live from the red carpet I caught a glimpse of some of the big names in tinsel town as they graced the awards. I desperately wanted to stay up and watch the full ceremony but my eyes just didn’t let me.

So here were my favourite picks of the name, I could include so many as there really were some beautiful gowns and dresses but I have narrowed it down to the ones who really stood out to me.

So drum roll please………

Lupita Nyong'o 

First up comes as no surprise she has been on every single one of my best dressed posts recently. 

Lupita has shown up on the red carpet in a beautiful array of colourful dresses and the Oscars was no exception.

 Lupida wore a powder blue dress by Prada. This dress was designed soecidically for Lupita.  When Lupita was interviewed on the red carpet said she choose this colour as it reminded her of her home county stating she ‘wanted to bring a bit of home’ with her, very fitting sentiment I think.

 Lupita said the dress was inspired by the design of a champagne glass filled with bubbles. This colour just looks perfect with her skin tone. I think this dress is perfect for the Oscar's it really reminds me of a fairy tale dress, very Cinderella esq. 

 Also the headband? Ok not everyone will be a fan but I think it looks so pretty and delicate,  it gives her short cut a feminine touch and hint of sparkle. I love that she is having fun with this look. 

Lupita has really been the one to watch on the red carpet she has made sure all eyes are firmly on her with an exquisite selection of dresses; my favourite was the red cape dress and I am sure there are going to be many more fabulous red carpet moments from Lupita. 

Kate Hudson

I adore this Versace gown that Kate wore to the Oscars, I think it was a really red carpet wow moment and has a really old fashioned Hollywood glam feel to it. This dress has everything I love in fashion, cape detail, low back and shoulder pads. In my eyes this dress is perfect and she looks stunning. 

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer hit the red carpet is another beautiful Dior dress, this bold red strapless dress was made especially for Jennifer and it is the perfect style and pick for her. I think the peplum detail gives the structure something extra. I love the back necklace she added to give the whole look a bit of sparkle. I also actually love she had another little tumble on the red carpet, she really is your girl next door and seems so genuine abs down to earth, I am a bit fan of J-law. 

So there is my final best dressed post from this seasons awards, I loved doing this 'best dressed' series it's been really fun doing some more fashion focused posts.

February favourites

February has come and gone in a flash and March is upon us, the sun is shining today and it finally feels as though spring is on it's way....finally.

So the end of a month can only mean on thing? Lots of monthly favourites popping up on my news feed, which ultimately results in my wish list growing and growing. So I thought I would throw in my two cents worth of products I have been loving throughout February for you all! Here goes: 

Vaseline Spray and Go moisturiser in coco radiance.
This is the perfect easy to use moisturising for lazy girls, like moi. It dries in a matter of seconds and I love the coco butter scent, I did a full review of this product here.

Tanya Burr Lip gloss in Aurora
I have literally worn this pretty pink gloss everyday since I purchased it, its the perfect ever day pink shade gloss with a hint of glitter, the gloss isn't sticky and leaves my lips feeling hydrated and moisturised. I did a full review with swatches of my Tanya Burr purchases here

Origins drink up intense mask
The Drink up intensive overnight mask was a new purchase this month (I will do a full review very soon) and I have fallen head over heels in love with the stuff, I had heard some great reviews about this mask and I have not been disappointed, this mask leaves me skin feeling incredibly soft and hydrated and I love the thought of my skin drinking up this mask and hydrating while I get my beauty sleep.

If your a regular reading of my blog you might have read my post  Keeping my pout soft and conditioned which included my favourite lip scrub from Lush, well this month this old favourite has returned to my life and I have used this every night before I apply a lip butter. Last month my lips were a mess, I blame this cold weather, luckily I had got another pot for Christmas and voila my dry cracked lips have disappeared. This scrub exfoliates the lips and removes dead skin (nice) and it tastes so yummy, popcorn is one of my favourite snacks, so I can get my popcorn fix without the calories.

Leaves candle
I have a weakness for candles (like most bloggers), and my candle of choice is bath and body works. Of course I have fallen in love with a candle brand not available in the UK, I never make life easy for myself. However they sell Bath and Body works in Dubai where my family live so I can still get my fix. Leaves is hands down favourite scent, its more of an autumn aroma with a mixture of apple, berries and cider scents but I love it all year around. When I burn this candle you smell it throughout my whole apartment and I can smell it the next day.

Hello beauts

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend. The sun has been making its best attempts to show its face this last week, I even had to reach for my sunglasses while driving one day. This excites me greatly.

So my head has been in a spring time day dream for the last few days and I started thinking about Spring Fashion, and ever since I have been dreaming of pastel. You will probably notice my favourite shades of pastel are baby pink and mint.

I particularly like the two coats, but should I go for the Topshop green swing coat or the dusky pink coat, Help bloggers?

I feel a shopping trip coming on.

Pancake day preparations

Being the foodie that I am any day in the calendar that celebrates food and encourages the eating of vast amount of food is a winner in my eye and one of my favourites just happens to be Pancake Day. I love pancakes and crepes at the best of times but this is usually a breakfast of pudding option, but Pancake Day is one day of the year when I can have pancakes for my tea and well that is pretty special.

When it comes to toppings there isn’t much you can’t put on a pancake. 

As a child I was a big fan of a strawberry jam covered pancake, my sister opted for the 5 teaspoons of sugar over the top…without any lemon or honey just sugar, I found this very odd. 

Since my childhood I have become slightly more adventurous then a simple jam and the best pancake I have ever tasted was smothered in Nutella, chocolate chips, chocolate sauce and a scoop of vanilla icing, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

In the build-up to  pancake day I have been searching for inspiration for the perfect pancake topping ideas and combinations and thought I would share with you my findings so you can cook up a pancake storm in the kitchen next week. 

 I might even have a practice run this weekend…purely for testing reasons of course!

 

 You can't go wrong with my good old favourite fruit jam topping. 

Sticking with the fruit theme, blueberry's, banana and syrup for the more healthy option....if your into that kind of thing. 

Or blueberry's, powder sugar and a squeeze of lemon, an old classic! 

Or mix one of your 5 a day with a good dollop of Nutella. 

Well this is more my kind of thing, pancake stack, fruit and chocolate. Perfect! 

Feeling creative? Teddy bear pancakes for the kids or any big kids in your household. 

Or a cinnamon bum style pancake, I need to try this looks delish! 

Maybe you prefer the savoury option? Bacon filled pancakes? What could be better, bacon and pancakes. Maybe I could have this for main and a sweet one for pudding? 

Savoury fillings not your cup of tea, don't worry I have all you sweet tooths covered? Birthday cake style pancake, complete with icing and sprinkles. 

Not a fan of icing, you could just go for fruit and sprinkles, looks so cute! 

 

Now when it comes to basic pancake recipe I stick to mummy’s recipe, every time I have one of her pancakes or recreate my own using the same recipe (yes I made her write it down for me when I moved out) it takes me back to my childhood,  my mum would make me and my sister as many pancakes as our tummies would allow us, don’t worry it was just once a year, this was not a daily or even a weekly occurrence. You can find loads of recipes online, just promise me promise me one thing? Don’t go and buy the add water mixes or ready made ones, pancakes are the easiest thing to whip up in the kitchen and taste 100 times better homemade.

Sunday Favourites

Ok it's 12:10 am so it's technically Monday but here are my Sunday favourites. 

Me and Gary have probably had the laziest Sunday ever. I spent all day on the sofa watching films, drinking hot chocolate, nibbling on chocolate, reading Cosmo, watching the Kardashian's and Towie, double reality whammy, and yes I love them both please don't judge! I even managed to have two naps, that's right two I can't even remember the last time I did that, but now I am annoyingly wide awake so fool me. 

Enough chit chat from me here are favourite pins and inspiration this week. 

Style inspiration

I was doing my usual style inspiration searching and pinning when I came across this beauty. When it comes to personal style this is just me all over, preppy style, cute girly bow tie, collar, buttoned shirt and cardigan....I need this combo in my life. 

Ring stacking

I am loving the stacked ring look at the moment. I have never been a huge necklace kind of girl so have always focused on the wrist and hand candy. I love the whole midi ring look and definitely want to build up my collection a little bit more. 

The beach

I don't know about anyone else but I am so over winter weather, I need sunshine and spring time in life. With better weather comes days at the seaside.  I can't wait to get sand in my toes and dip my feet in the sea, wouldn't mind fitting some of these super cute pastel beach huts either.

I think I have a new girl crush, Margot Robbie. This women is beautiful and I am lusting over her style and beauty looks at the moment.
