Pink Pout Picks

left to right, Showy matte balm, lip butter strawberry shortcake, mac girl about town, mac creme cup, mac girl next door, aurora by tanya burr

Hello everyone, Sorry for the lack of posts this week, blame university work combined with a full time job while trying to my wedding, but I am one of those people who tries to spin about 100 plates at once so I have no one to blame but myself.

When it comes to my pout I am a fan of all things pink, be it bright pink, baby pink, nude pink, shimmery pink, you name it, its probably in my slightly large lip collection.

So today I wanted to share with you my top pink lip products....if you hadn't already guessed.

Revlon lip butter- Strawberry Shortcake
For regular readers of my blog this lip product will come as no surprise, I am a big fan of the Lip Butters from Revlon and rave about them regularly. The lip butters are a great every day lip product, they are a buttery balm with great pigmentation and a glossy finish. There are normally 2 (maybe 3) of these lip butters floating around my handbag. My favourite shade is strawberry shortcake, its a lovely everyday pink shade, which really compliments any skin tone. Strawberry short cake is a creamy soft baby pink shade, with lilac undertones, but I find its not too blue and frosty toned. Its my go to lip products and I wont admit how many of these I have been through it the past year....cough cough three.

Mac Girl About Town
As most beauty bloggers I have a love affair for Mac Lipsticks (and eye shadows but that's a different post). I just love Mac for lipsticks, there is so many pretty shades and collections to browse and pick from, I love the formula's and they aren't too pricey either.Girl About Town was the first bright lipstick from Mac, I was influenced by Tanya Burr and one of her tutorials if I remember rightly. Its a beautiful bright fushia pink shade and is a amplified cream formula, so its unlike some bright shades it leaves my lips creamy and buttery and doesn't dry them out. This lipstick it is very build-able and can worn lightly for the day time but build up for an evening look and this lipstick does not budge at all, which is great for a night out. This is one of my favorite bright lip sticks and I think its a great first bold lip colour if your not too confident with bright lip colours.

Mac Girl next door
Sticking with Mac my next favourite is one of the pieces from the Archie girl collection, its nothing to do with the super cute packaging, promise. Girl Next Door is a luster formula and the shade is a very light pastel opaque toned pink with blue under tones, so this wont be everyone's cup of tea, but I personally love it. It gives my lips a sheer pink finish and I find this works really well with a dramatic smokey eye. Not looking forward to the day this little beauty runs out so if anyone has a dupe please let me know.

Mac Creme Cup
Sorry one more mac lipstick, last one promise. This is my go to Mac lipstick for everyday. Creme cup is a cream sheen which is my favourite mac formula, because as the name suggests it leaves my lips soft and creamy. Creme cup is a soft pink nude shade and gives me lips the perfect pink glow with just one swipe of colour.

Aurora By Tanya Burr
As soon as I heard Tanya Burr was releasing her lip gloss and nail collection I knew I would be purchasing a few bits and pieces. Tanya's make up tutorials were the first I ever watched on YouTube and I have been addicted to make up and beauty tutorials and blogs ever since, which then led me to write my own little blog, so I have a lot to thank Miss Tanya Burr for, thanks Tanya I am now a make addict, but I wouldn't have it any other way. So anyway enough fan girl rambling, back to the gloss. Aurora is a really great everyday light pink toned gloss with a subtle glittery particles. Worm alone this gloss gives the lips a really pretty pink sheen and is great to give you a pop of pink colour, buts its also great over the top of a nude pink colour to give it a shimmery finish. I also have the gloss in ' Afternoon Tea' but I need to try some more because these glosses are amazing, they are long lasting, really well pigmented and smell so yummy. You can read my full review here.

Revlon Colourbust Matte Balm in Showy
This is a bit of a new lip product to my collection, I did a full review of this balm as well as two of the Lacquer balms here. I am not normally a fan of matte lipsticks or products but I have fallen in love with this balm. I think because its a balm formula with added coconut, mango and shae butter it leaves your lips soft and hydrated but with a matte finish. I love the shade of this balm too its not to dissimilar to 'Girl about town' from Mac, in that its a bold bright pink with purple undertones but it has a more opaque finish. This can be worn more as more of a sheer bright pink in the day and then built up with a few more coats for a more dramatic bold finish.

So that's it my favourite pink pout picks, or simply put my favourite pink lip products. Do you have any favourites I need to try.

Thanks for reading lovlies

What I love on the High Street

Hello beautifull readers, how are we all?
On Sunday I took part in the bloggers chat, these chats take place from 8.00-9.00pm every Wednesday and Friday on twitter. I really enjoy taking part in the chats it’s a great way to meet and chat to lots of bloggers and the conversation is always flowing because we all have a love and passion for the beauty world. This week’s topic was blogging on a budget and found it really interesting to explore different ways to save my pennies when it comes to my makeup and beauty addiction.
My makeup collection is a real mixture of high end luxurious make up and high street bargains, but the chat really made me think about high street beauty. So today I thought I would share with you my top 5 high street gems. To be honest I found it hard to narrow it down to just 5 products because the high street is full of amazing products, but I really thought about my top 5 high street favourites that I would pick over a high end version of the product.

Eternal gold and on and on bronze

First on the list is Maybelline Colour tattoos. These little pots are a smooth creamy gel formulated eye shadows with a shimmery long lasting finish. I literally use these all the time my favorite is the ‘on and on bronze shade’ which is metallic warm bronze shade. The colour tattoos are great as a base for a smoky or dramatic  eye makeup look as you can pack on a good amount of it. I also like to use this shadow alone blended out for a subtle pop of colour for an everyday look. The pigmentation of the colour tattoos are really good and long lasting on the lid and will only cost you £4.99, I own about 5 of these little pots and reach for them more often than my MAC paint pots.

Number two is my favorite drug store foundation, Bourjois healthy mix foundation. I have recently been loving the CC cream but I have only been using this a month or two so didn't think I could put in my top 5 just yet, but before I purchased this the high street foundation I always grabbed for and has been a much loved staple in my rather large makeup collection is the healthy mix foundation. This foundation is a light airy formula that offers medium, but build-able coverage. The healthy mix foundation blends smoothly on the skin, covering all my redness and imperfections leaving a satin feel and glowing finish that is not too dewy or oily. Its also smells really yummy and fruity so with all this for the small price of £9.99 whats not to like.

Sticking with Bourjois my next high street pick is their healthy balance powder. I wont go on about this too much as I did a full review here, but this is perfect powder for a healthy natural finish to the skin and it doesn't leave you looking too powdery or caked in powder, which is never a good look. You can purchase this compact powder for £8.99 and I find myself reaching for this over all my high end finishing powders. I just have to say I am so impressed with Bourjois recently they are quickly becoming my favourite make up brand on the high street with their beautiful array of potted blush, shimmering glosses and sweet scented face products...who could not love the chocolate bronzer.

Nude and black

Moving onto number four is the Rimmel scandal eye liners which are around £3.99. I very rarely purchase high end eye liner, I just don't see the point of paying a fortune for a kohl pencil when there are so many good liners on the high street, especially since my eye liners always seem to go walk about. I love these Scandal eye liners from Rimmel, the soft creamy consistency glides on to my water line with ease and the lasting powder of these pencils is amazing, it does mean they can be pretty hard to budge these at the end of the day but I find an oil based cleanser is best for removing heavy eye makeup. As you can see from the swatches the pigmentation of these is amazing and just one layer gives your eyes a dramatic finish.

Left to right, tutti fruitti, strawberry shortcake, sorbet and candy apple.

Finally I couldn't do a high street post without including my beloved Revlon lip butters, I always have one of these in my handbag. I adore these glossy buttery balms. They are highly pigmented and have a really good colour pay off, the rich buttery consistency leaves my lips moisturized and hydrated and they last really well on the lips. These are hands down my favorite high street lip products and I reach for these little beauties daily. If I had to pick just one shade  though it would be strawberry short cake, which is not only the cutest little name but it’s the cutest  baby pink shade, its not too blue toned so its perfect for every day where to add just a pop of pink to your look. I think I nearly own every colour available from the lip butter range…it’s an addiction  but what can I say but I love them, they only cost £7.99 so I am a very happy blogger when it comes to these little lip butters. I have swatched some of my favorite colours for you.
So that’s my it, my top 5 high street favorites. I would love to hear about your top 5 and whether you have tried any of my personal favorites.

New Revlon Lip Butter shades

Juicy Papaya, Pink lemonade and Sorbet

Hi ladies, I hope your all looking forward to the Easter weekend and tucking into some chocolate eggs, I keep reminding my fiancé how much I love malteaser bunnies so hopefully he has got the hint :p.

Anyway  I will stop rambling, Spring is approaching and Revlon have launched four new lip butters as part of the Spring collection. The four shades are Wild watermelon, Juicy papaya, Pink lemonade and Sorbet.  I was so excited when I heard about these new shades, for anyone that doesn't know I am obsessed with the Revlon lip butters, they have been a staple in my make up bag ever since I got my hands on them. So I couldn't wait to try these new shades.

Very briefly for anyone who hasn't tried a lip butter before, they are advertised as a buttery balm. I personally think they are more in between being a balm or a lipstick with a shiny gloss finish( dependant on the shade). I love how hydrating and moisturised these leave my lips and how wearable these little beauties are.....as you can tell I am a fan.

Boots has the lip butters on the 3 for 2 offer, so of course I got 3, can you blame me? I decided to go for sorbet, pink Lemonade and juicy papaya. As lovely as the wild watermelon shade looked I decided against this one as I don't wear red shades very often, much more a pink girl. (although I do love the candy apple lip butter).

My favourite shade is sorbet, I love the bright vibrant shade of bright pink. This product is so pigmented and the colour pay of is amazing. I find this with a lot of the darker shades of the lip butters. This colour is so pretty I defiantly think I will be reaching for this colour day and night through out the summer.

The juicy papaya shade is a peachy coral colour, with pink tones. This shade is perfect for the Summer. the colour is build able, but not quite as bright as sorbet but, for anyone who doesn't like wearing bright, in your face colours but want to add a pop a colour to your every day look I would recommend this colour.
Finally the pink lemonade shade is a soft pink colour. This has quite a sheer finish its much lighter then some of the other pink shades available, but I love this colour I think it's a great everyday colour for spring and summer, and will look great with a tan, if the sun ever shows its face here in the UK. I am fan of all three shades they are all very wearable but build able to create different looks and they give a glossy sheen and soft finish to my lips.
Now I have to mention the packaging, I am sucker for good packaging and I think the packaging of these products is perfect. The quilted effect give it a very high end chanel look to the them, but the vibrant colours make them stand out and give them a feminine finish and look beautiful in any make up collection. My only negative with the lip butters is I find because of the buttery consistency they melt quite quickly, so not a product to be left in your car or bottom of hand bag. Saying that they are still my favourite affordable lip products at £7.99 each I have got my money worth out of all my lip butters.
Finally just thought I would share with you my lip butter collection...yes I know it's a lot but I love them. My favourite shades is strawberry shortcake, it's the perfect every day pink colour and tutti fruitti  which is a lovely coral shade. I did also own creme brûlée but I wasn't a huge fan of this so gave it to my sister who is much more tanned then me ( I am very jealous of her natural glow).

Pink lemonade, juicy papaya, sorbet, tutti fruitti, strawberry shortcake, cupcake, candy apple and sweet tart.

What do you think of the lip butters? Have you tried the new shades.
