Valentines day date ideas

So last week I posted about some ideas for dates and activities for valentines day, and being the clumsy girl I am, a slip of the finger on my Iphone accidentally deleted it last night waaah. So I am going to attempt to rewrite my post...so sorry if you did already read it previously but for any new readers, read on a d enjoy.

So Valentines day is fast approaching, the supermarkets and gift stores are full with flowers, chocolate, cards and gifts to shower the one you love. Ok so Valentines day has become very commercial over time, but I think any day which allows us to celebrate love and remind us to tell the one you love how much you mean to them is worth celebrating in some way shape or form, I am a soppy girl I know!

Now I don't celebrate Valentines day like your average adult because February the 14th is my birthday. However even though it's my day I still get Gary a little something just to say 'I love you', I think I deserve some girlfriend points for buying someone else a gift on my birthday.

So today I am going to share with you some ideas on how to spend Valentines day or evening, whether your on a budget or thinking of going all out! I have some ideas to suit every purse or wallet.

Breakfast in bed
Why not start the day cuddled up enjoying a delicious breakfast in bed together.

Indoor picnic
Want a nice night in with a twist, why not have indoor picnic? Throw down a rug, rustle up some picnic favourites, sprinkle some petal and crack open a bottle of wine. If your don't live in the UK like me you might have acceptable outdoor picnic weather, but right now it's not an option here, unless your very brave and own lots of thermal clothing.
Home cooked comfort food
Around V day set menus and steep prices pop up all over restaurants, so why not show off you skills in the kitchen. Set the scene with candles and rose petals, you could even get dressed up in your favourite formal outfit to really make you feel special and like your hitting the town.

Get baking
You could spend the day whipping up some valentines themed baked goods. whether its heart cut biscuits or decorating cupcakes you will have a great time getting messy and creative in the kitchen, then enjoy your yummy treats together.

Fondue night
Want home cooked food with a unique edge, why not have a fondue night. I think there is something so fun about dipping your food is delicious sauces, it must be the child in me. You could have a savoury cheese sauce or a sweet chocolate sauce, if it was me I would have both one for main and one for pudding.

Cheese and wine night
Indulge in a night of tasting an array of mouth watering cheeses along with a tipple of wine.

Afternoon tea
If like me you love tea, cakes, sandwiches and scones why not go for an afternoon tea together and treat your taste buds to some seriously yummy food.  You could always do a home made version too.

Spa day
Got a little more cash to splash on your other half, then why not book a relaxing spa day for two. What could be better than spending the day getting pampered together. I have been hinting to my other half about going on a spa day together for my birthday, time will tell if he has been listening.

Movie night
If your a movie lover like me, what could be better than spending the night snuggled on the sofa watching your favourite romantic films. Just don't  forget the popcorn.

Trip to theatre
If you Love musicals and drama, then take a trip to theatre together and watch your favourite musical or show.

Romantic getaway
No budget? You could always go all out and whisk your other half away for the weekend on a romantic city break, Paris, Venice, Amsterdam, Rome and London are all popular choices.

So whatever you plan for February the 14th just make you spend the day together, making memories. My favourite Valentines day/ Birthday was when Gary recreated out first day, we had a Mexican meal, he even booked the same table we sat at on the original date and then went to cinema and indulged in popcorn and ice cream. It was such a sweet and thoughtful idea.

Thanks for reading lovelies, I would love to hear about your Valentines day plans.

Sunday favourites

So here I am again with my Sunday favourite picks from the wonderful world of Pintrest. I have had a busy weekend meeting my wedding florist and general wedding planning and organising and then today me and Gary have had a lovely long walk around Chatsworth to wake us up and get some fresh air in my lungs.

I am absolutely gutted I have accident deleted the valentines date idea post I put up last week so I am going to rewrite  that and pop it up after this, I am such a muppet. So enough chit chat, here are my favourites this week.

Tutu skirt
I love these layered feminine tutu, ballerina style skirts. I think so look so girly, elegant and cute. It's very me, I think they look beautiful  for a smart day look or a glamorous night time outfit. just before we move on I just need to mention....the shoes, I have serious red sole envy.

Pancakes
With pancake day right around the corner I been on the search for pancake recipes. This looks delicious especially if put have a sweet tooth like moi.

Bridal make up
I am still searching for bridal make up inspiration ideas. I have fallen in love with this striking look I love the highlighting and contouring used here and the glossy nude look.

Lounge wear
I love this jumper, it sums up my perfect lazy Sunday, add a yummy take away and I am at my happiest and most relaxed.

Books
As I mentioned last week I am decorating my apartment and I am loving the look of books to decorate my coffee table and this book is top of my list, I think it would be the perfect addition to my coffee table decor.

So there you have it my top 5 picks of the week. I hope you have all had a lovely weekend.

Grammy's best dressed

So another weekend, another award ceremony and another best dressed blog post coming your way. This weekend it was the Grammy's turn to host the red carpet. I love the Grammy's there always some really show stopping outfits which are slightly more daring and risqué then the usual red carpet gowns. There was plenty of glitz and glam at the Grammy's and the metallic look was a firm favourite from some of the leading ladies in the music world.

So here is my favourites of the night.

My favourite of the night was Taylor Swift in this show stopping metallic chain mail Gucci dress. I love this glamour silver sleeved number, its really looks beautiful on her, I think this is the best she has looked on the red carpet she looks sofemine  and elegant but it has a young edge to it.  I also love her flawless hair and make up, I think it compliments the dress perfectly. Taylor hands down wins best dressed in my eyes.

My next pick of the night is another Metallic look, but this time by the stylish Rita Ora. Rita has gone for a slinky gold metallic long sleeves dress with a hint of green mixed in with the gold, I think she looks stunning and pulls off this chic look like a red carpet pro. I am also loving the big voluminous blonde curls and bright dramatic make up on her.

Now I am sure there are going to be some very mixed reviews on Beyonce's choice of attire for the night, but personally I think she looked amazing. Yes this Michael Costello white floral dress with sheer detailing was a very daring choice, but if anyone can pull it off its Queen B and can I just say her body! Wow....I have no words, she looks incredible.

So there we have it there are my favourite fashion frocks from the Grammy's. Did you have any favourites?

Sunday favourites

So it's Sunday again already (where does time go) and I am here with my Sunday favourites. Sorry about the lack of blogging this week but I had a tooth taken out this week so I am have been curled up on the sofa after work feeling very sorry for myself and in quite a bit of pain. However, after lots of soup and soft food I am starting to feel like myself again. On a good note I tried on my wedding dress again yesterday, along with my shoes so I could be fitted properly and I loved it even more than before...I can't wait for the big day in July so everyone can see it, I am terrible at keeping secrets.

So enough rambling lets begin with my favourites.

Wedding make up
While we are on the wedding topic I have been looking for bridal make up inspiration all week, trying to find the perfect look for me. I love this eye make up, maybe not quite as dark (what do you think?) but a a slightly more subtle smokey eye is the look that's winning for me at the moment. (I have a wedding related post going up next week on here so keep your eyes peeled).

Perfume storage
Being the over organised girl I am I get far to excited about storage ideas, sad I know. So when I saw this cake tier stand used as perfume storage I was instantly impressed, what a good idea? My perfume collection is rather large at the moment and it's taking over my dresser so this looks like a good way to store all my perfume.

Champagne cake
It's my birthday in February and what more could a girl want than a champagne pink frosted cake....I don't think I need to say anymore!

Coffee table books
Me and Gary are having a little redecorate of our apartment at the moment, nothing major just a few bits and bobs here and there to make it feel a bit more like home. I really like the idea of decorating your coffee table with fashion or beauty books, and with the added flowers and candles I think this looks so chic, I have seen loads of ideas similar to this on Pintrest so I am definitely on operation coffee table at the moment.

 Honeymoon destination
Back to my wedding, if you haven't noticed its a hot topic at the moment. But me and the hubby to be have really been torn on where to go on out honeymoon but I think we have finally decided to go to the Maldives, how amazing does it look? I keep day dreaming about this paradise like Island. We won't be going till November though due to rainy season so if any one has any ideas on nice places for a mini break straight after our wedding for 4 days  I would love to hear.

Thanks for reading lovelies and I hope you have all had a lovely weekend, I am going back to my university books now.

Best dressed screen actors guild awards

So last night I was once again glued to  E watching another live from the red carpet swooning at the beautiful fashion. This weeks ceremony was The Screen Actor Guild Awards' or SAGS for short, where the awards are voted for by fellow actors and actresses.

So here is a round up of my favourite dresses and gowns that graced the red carpet. Once again there was such an array of beautiful and exquisite dresses it was hard to pick just a handful but there were definitely a few stand out looks for me.

My favourite look of the night was the beautiful Cate Blanchett. This stunning draped soft pink Givenchy gown looks so elegant and breathe taking on her, I can't even put into words how perfect I think this dress looks on her. Then can I please just take a minute to swoon at her make up and hair, the combination of her simple pretty pink make up and loose low bun is just perfection.

Next up is Jennifer Lawrence in this stunning Doir glittery navy strapless gown. I think this looks Devine on Jennifer, she looks so graceful and feminine. I think this is a great look on her and I have to say she is swiftly becoming my favourite personality on the red carpet, she comes across so down to earth and isn't afraid to be herself, loving her right now.

Well Lupita Nyong'o has certainly made sure all eyes are on her this red carpet and she is working the carpet like a pro. She wowed the fashion world with her red caped Ralf Lauren dress last week,  and she did not disappoint at the SAG awards with this stunning turquoise Gucci gown. This colour looks amazing on her and she really had the wow factor last night in this bright coloured dress with matching makeup.

Finally I couldn't forget Sofia Vergara. I think this Donna Karen shimmery strapless and backless sequin dress is the perfect dress for her beautiful curvacious body. I am in love with incredibly sexy dress on her.

So that's my favourites from the Screen Actors guild awards, next weekend is the Grammies and I cannot wait to see what the stars bull of there wardrobes.

Thanks for reading lovelies, if you had any favourite looks of the night I would love to hear.

Sunday favourites

Hello Beauts

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend whether its been a quiet one watching Saturday night tv or a girl night out. It was my fiancé's birthday the other day so I have spent most the weekend meeting with our families and friends to do some celebrating, which hasincluded plenty   of eating and drinking, so we have had really nice weekend, but I am feeling very full and think I may have gained a few pounds, but back to the gym tomorrow.

So it's that time again already (where does the week go) for me to share with you my 'Sunday favourites' where I share will you my favourite Pintrest finds which have inspired me this week.

Dreaming of Paris.
This week I have been dreaming of Paris. I went to Paris a few years ago but me and Gary have never been together and I am desperate to return to the city of love. Even though I have been there is still so many things I want to see in Paris, in particular the louvre. I am such a history geek as I would just love to spend the day taking in the art and history all around me.

Favourite quote
This is my favourite quote of the week. I really struggle with my sleep and suffer from insomnia. This often means I struggle to rise in the morning and wake up grumpy and moody, I must be a delight to live with. So this quote has really inspired me to sort out my sleep routine as I am missing out on so many moments in the land of nod.

Favourite celebrity
I got Beyonce's tour DVD for Christmas and I watched it this week and oh my gosh it's amazing. I was lucky enough to see her perform live last year  in Manchester, it was hands down the best show I have ever seen. She was incredible. Anyway I saw this picture and I just thought it captures her natural beauty so well and she looks so happy and radiant. It really made me smile.

  Nail polish
This is my favourite beauty find of the week, and now I need this nail polish in my life. This is OPI mod about you and it's the perfect pink colour so I am now on a hunt for this.

 Disney
I love Disney so this snap shot of one of my favourites Tangled really caught my eye. As soon as I saw this I decided to have a Disney night along with hot chocolate and a face mask, perfect night!

So that's my favourites. I would love to hear about your favourites things or pictures this week.

Thanks for reading

The Book of Us

So Valentine day, the season of love is around the corner so I thought this would be the ideal time to share with you a beautiful and thoughtful engagement present me and Gary got after our engagement. We got engaged over a year ago now and I stumbled across the book after re jiggling my book case and reading through it reminded me that I really need to start writing in this beautiful book. I think it's so easy to get wrapped up in the wedding plans and enjoying the engagement excitement that it will be over so quick I want to start make sure I remember the special and personal moments.

The book of us is a journal of your love story, written by answering 150 questions on your relationship. The questions range from how you met, the proposal, the wedding onto the next stage of your life together such as children, travelling and celebrating special anniversaries. The questions are so creative and beautifully written and allow you as a couple to reflect on special moments on your love story, but aren't too overwhelming or so deep that filling out the book becomes a chore.

I think this book is such a lovely and intimate way to remembering all the memorable milestones in your relationship with that special someone. I can't wait to cosey up my fiancé will a glass of wine and start filling in some of the questions.

This journal by David and Kate Marshall can be found on Amazon, for around £10
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/078686477X

I think it's the perfect and thoughtful  gift for your other half or if you have friends or family who have recently hot engaged or are getting married.
